“No ‘Udon’t'” says US Court to noodle chain hoping for more than injunctive relief
Mr. Herman received a prestigious award from the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD) in special recognition as the Supporting Member of the Year for his leadership as Chairman of the Amicus Committee of the AAFD. The Committee has the charge of writing briefs on issues of national importance to franchising. Mr. Herman has lectured before the prestigious American Bar Association Forum on Franchising.
Mr. Herman has also lectured on U.S. franchise law at international symposiums held in Shanghai, China, and San Jose, Costa Rica. He has represented international clients in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, England, Poland, Spain, Australia, China, and Korea, in franchise and legally related matters.
Mr. Herman was selected in April 2004, 2005, and 2008 as one of the Top 100 Franchise Legal Eagles by Franchise Times.
Mr. Herman graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1983, and is a Member in Good Standing of the District of Columbia Bar, The American Bar Association (ABA) International Law Section, and the Forum on Franchising Section, the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers, and the International Association of Franchisees and Dealers.
Mr. Herman has lectured at the First Annual Franchise Conference held in Shanghai, China in October 1998. He has also lectured on Franchising Issues in San Jose, Costa Rica in September 2001, and with the ABA Forum on Franchising in Orlando, Florida in October 2005.
Mr. Herman has represented clients from over ten countries in various international trade matters (illegal subsidies, dumping, predatory pricing/antitrust, Foreign Corrupt Practices, and US Export Controls), along with various international franchisees in litigation/arbitration with their US or European based franchisors. In total, Mr. Herman has represented clients from over 150 franchise systems over his long national and international legal career spanning 33 years. He has also been an expert witness on franchise related matters.
Mr. Herman has appeared on CNN discussing franchise issues, and has been quoted repeatedly in the Wall Street Journal, and extensively in the Franchise Trade Press.
