A Franchisor’s Board of Director’s Credentials Matter

When doing research for this blog last week on a completely different topic, I ran across a company that impressed me to no end. Not because I am overly fond of drinking beer and eating cheese, but rather because of the experience and brilliant resumes of the board of directors of the company. I read the website for the World of Beers franchise. The two founding fathers went to great measures to align themselves with individuals that bring decades of experience in related franchising companies and after reading their bios, I felt extremely confident in their abilities. It is critically important when deciding on the franchise business you want to purchase to review the resumes of the owners and board of directors to make sure that the company has a solid foundation. A franchise opportunity is only as good as its top levels of management and World of Beers leadership page reads like a franchise industry all-star team. Take a look at these resumes and see if you agree.

According to the website: https://worldofbeer.com/Franchise/Leadership, World of Beer’s CEO and President, Paul E. Avery “served as Chief Operating Officer of OSI Restaurant Partners, Inc. from May 2005–2009, including operation of Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Lee Roy Selmon’s, A la Carte Pavilion and Outback International.”

Benjamin P. Novello is the chief development officer and a co-owner and is a 25-year industry veteran and former president of Outback Steakhouse, having planned and developed several hundred successful restaurant locations.

Co-owner Jim R. Pollard ” is a former Regional Joint Venture Partner for Outback Steakhouse, Inc., responsible for introducing and developing the Outback brand in both southeast and west coast Florida markets.”

And the list of accomplishment and experience for the other members of the board is equally impressive. I’m sure you’ll agree, this is probably not a “fly by night” company. In establishing their company and offering franchise opportunities, they appear to have acted on an idea and are expanding in a market that they already are experts in. While I am not endorsing this company, this is the type of leadership investors in a franchise model should seek.
